Coast Guard Airlifts Man Off Cruise Ship

The US Coast Guard has released a video of a dramatic at-sea airlift of a passenger from a Seattle-bound cruise ship on Sunday morning.

The 79-year-old man was lifted off Holland-America’s Amsterdam (2010), off the coast of Tofino, British Columbia.  The passenger was suffering from stroke-like symptoms. The Coast Guard crew from Port Angeles, Washington,  received the request at 4:55 a.m Pacific Daylight Time and launched a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter at 6:45 a.m. The helicopter reached the cruise ship at 7:30 a.m.

The man was transferred to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles, Washington, at 8:15 a.m.
