Knorr, which is being donated to the Mexican navy, was named in honor of Ernest R. Knorr, a noted Navy hydrographic engineer and cartographer.
Knorr’s replacement is Neil Armstrong, named for the Ohio astronaut who was the first man to walk on the moon.
