Astor and Fiermonte

Astor and Fiermonte

Madeleine Astor’s later years were a gradual downward spiral. She married again on 22 June 1916 to her childhood friend, William Karl Dick, a vice president of Manufacturers Trust Company of New York and a part owner and director of the Brooklyn Times. According to the terms of her late husband’s will, Madeleine lost her stipend from the Astor trust fund and the right to live in the family’s mansions. Madeleine Astor and Dick were divorced in Reno, Nevada, in 1933.

On 27 November 1933, Madeleine married a twenty-six-year-old Italian boxer, Enzo Fiermonte. They divorced five years later.

Numerous obituaries attribute Madeleine’s death to heart troubles. A romantic might say that she died of a broken heart.
