United States’ most famous “passenger” began her journey to France on 5 March 1963. After a whirlwind US tour Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece, “Mona Lisa,” was no doubt pleased to be heading back home. Yet the journey was a difficult one, as the newspaper clipping below explains.
