In 1911, Jack Binns, Republic’s wireless operator, was assigned by Marconi to serve on White Star Line’s Olympic and Titanic. But J. Bruce Ismay rejected Binns, feeling that he might bring negative publicity to the new liners. Binns later testified at the US Titanic inquiry.
