W.J. Hoendervanger is one of today’s finest maritime artists. Living and working in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, Hoendervanger’s paintings of ocean liners and other vessels, famous and obscure, are both visually stunning and technically accurate.
“From an early age, I have had an interest in ships and art,” Hoendervanger says. “There is nothing more fulfilling than combining these two interests in a painting.”
Hoendervanger is typically commissioned by a shipping line or other maritime-related company to create a custom artwork of one or more of its ships. “Every painting has its own artistic values,” Hoendervanger says. “I can handle various mediums such as oil, watercolor, gouache (and) pencil drawing.”
