After retirement from Cunard Line in 1967, Queen Mary began a second life as a floating hotel in Long Beach, California, near Los Angeles. Revenue generated by various special events throughout the year, although criticized by some ocean liner purists, keeps her safe from the breakers. As the last surviving vessel from of the golden age of ocean liners, Queen Mary continues to attracts a steady stream of visitors.
