In this video, William S. Hammack, a professor in the Chemical Engineering Department of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, presents some fascinating images and information gleaned from the 1909 to 1911 editions of the journal “The Engineer.”

Hammack, who uses the nickname EngineerGuy, shows photos of the construction of  Titanic and her twin, Olympic,  as well as the launching of the Olympic-class ships and several of the accidents that occurred as the liners were built. The video, which runs about 12 minutes also includes engineering details of the ship’s engines, steering mechanism and propellers.
