Vectis

In 1904 P&O purchased the ocean liner Rome and turned her into its first full-time cruise ship, Vectis. The company’s initial cruise holiday program was a first class only affair with shore excursions arranged by Thomas Cook. Rather than calling Vectis a “cruise ship,” P&O preferred to refer to its sumptuous vessel as a “cruising yacht.”
